No one else on theninternet appears to be having the same issue, which is even more troubling. I have monitored 'Activity Monitor and CPU is fine, though Memory seems to be taking a heavy load from kernel_task and mds_stores. I've been trying every slither of advice I can read on the forums, including removing old extensions from the System/Library folder but no change. I initially blamed Google Chrome and it's extensions, but the machine is crashing even without Chrome or any other browsers active. I then have to hold the power button for several seconds to power down. Sometimes the computer runs fine, but more and more frequently the fans begin to speed up and suddenly my two monitors go black and after a minute or so the computer fan stops and the computer is dead. Since updating to El Capitan 10.11.6 my machine has been plagued with crashes. I have posted elsewhere on this forum and read every thread on the internet, yet cannot seem to resolve this issue.
